Our main goal at Houston Journal Society is community. That means supporting our local coffee shops and stationery stores, but mostly getting together to take time to journal. Sometimes it’s just a couple of people. Sometimes we take up several tables at a beirgarten. No matter where we set up, it’s always going to be a good time.
The people in your life might understand your love of all things paper, but there’s something glorious about being with people who get it. Yes, the type of notebook paper matters. No, you can’t just use any pen. OMG yes let me flip through your chunk of a planner. So if you’re interested, here’s what you should expect when you attend a Houston Journal Society meet-up.
Showing Off
It’s highly encouraged to show off all the journal things. New notebook? Let us see it. New layout? Yes, please. Sticker? We love them. Pens? Tell us more. Accessories? LINK IT. We love to see how everyone uses their goodies. Odds are you will find someone with the same planner or journal as you but with a completely different way of using it.
Destash
It goes without saying that there are things in your stash that you once had to have, but haven’t touched in who knows when. We like to take all those things and toss them on a table so it can find a new home. From a loose sticker sheets to completely empty notebooks, all of this can be found in the destash at an HJS meet-up.
Pictures & Social Media
You’re going to leave with new friends in some way, shape, or form. Not only is it a way to help showcase the local stores gracious enough to host us but you can also glue down a photo of the day in your journal as a keepsake.
Journaling. I guess.
And even with all the laughing, sharing, and getting to know each other, some people even find time to journal. It’s amazing.
