January means a new beginning for most of us. New year. New goals. But most importantly, new planners.
Starting in September the planner and journal community start ordering and prepping for what journals to use and and and.
Now is the time to break them out and put them to use. But first, take some time to do a little techno kaigi.
Simply put, it means “notebook meeting.” You sit down and have an honest look at what you have, what you need, and what you’ve been doing. What works and what doesn’t. Maybe you don’t need to have a new planner system just because a new planner system exists. Have you started journaling more and need a larger space to accommodate? It’s okay to get a new notebook to reflect your current needs. This meeting does not need to be an email. You need to take the time to reflect.
Despite the consistent call of the plain black Moleskine, I have tried to pare down the amount of notebooks I have. Mostly to be able to leave the house with three notebooks and have everything I need on me. I am letting go of a separate book journal because I can actually put book notes into my bullet journal or the note pages in my Hobonichi Weeks mega. As far as journaling, I can alternate to different inserts as I fill them up. That gives me the flexibility to jump from different sizes with the added satisfaction of filling up notebooks and having a big ol’ stack of them to flip through.

Have you done your techo kaigi for this year? What are you changing? What is worth holding on to?
